E Words For Kids
Learning E words helps children build their vocabulary and improves their communication skills. These cool words can help them make sense of their surroundings.
Magic ‘e’ words are those that have an ‘e’ added to change the short vowel sound into a long one. This is also known as a split digraph.
1. Ee
Ee is an English suffix that can be used to form nouns and verbs. It is also used to form adjectives and adverbs.
In the United States, the suffix EE is often used to refer to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), a set of laws and regulations that prohibit certain categories of discrimination in employment practices within businesses. These laws are enforced by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
In chemistry, the suffix EE is sometimes used to replace er for enantiomeric excess. This is because the determination of enantiomeric excess using optical rotation has been superseded by more accurate methods such as chiral column chromatography. However, the two terms are not interchangeable and it is important to look at context when using either term.
2. Ei
Emotional intelligence (EI) is the ability to perceive one’s own emotions and those of others. It is often cited as an important characteristic of effective leaders, and it may contribute to job satisfaction and organizational performance.
Despite increased interest in EI, there is still a lack of rigorous scientific examination of its utility. Some scholars argue that EI confuses and conflates established theoretical distinctions between abilities, skills, and habits, as well as between personality traits and emotional states.
Moreover, the construct of EI is difficult to measure reliably. This has resulted in criticisms that many of the recent claims about the importance of EI are based on unsubstantiated assertions. Until more evidence supports its utility, widespread recommendations for EI training in health care settings should be withheld.
3. Ea
EA can mean:
Gamers often use the abbreviation EA to refer to Electronic Arts, an American video game company that publishes games such as the Madden NFL and FIFA series. It also produces the Mass Effect and Dragon Age games. EA has a reputation for supporting its developers and giving them photo credits in its games’ packaging and magazine advertisements.
4. Eh
Eh is a common tag in New Zealand English, and it has acquired a range of functions that overlap with those found in Canadian English. It is used to signal agreement, check comprehension of information, confirm shared background knowledge and to reaffirm the listener’s attention.
Eh also functions as a questioning or narrative tag. It is often a response to an unexpected or ambiguous statement. It is a popular way to end a story, letting the listener know that there is more to come and that they should stay tuned.
Avis argues that, despite its European origin, eh is not Canadian and should be classified as a universal English expression. He points out that other dialects of English have some similar tags: “right,” “okay,” and so on.
5. Ey
Ey is a letter commination used to form words which do not follow normal spelling patterns. At Spellzone, we call these words rulebreakers. They have a long /e/ sound at the end of the word, but are spelt with the ey to make sure they do not clash with any other letters in the words.
Examples of ey words include: eyo, egg and ovum. These words are often found in recipes, health and fitness programmes or other information on the internet.
